As I don't have the books with me now, I cannot tell if they remained in Dutch pay until 1697, or left before already.Wienand Drenthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05706264747223852048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3897297125231754296.post-67619368483305559442012-08-20T09:32:09.792+02:002012-08-20T09:32:09.792+02:00You are right. There were Swedish troops at Fleurus four years later. The Swedish contribution was nevertheless by no means comparable to that of Denmark in that war.Bjorn Thegebynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3897297125231754296.post-58253174488940858622012-08-17T21:29:55.097+02:002012-08-17T21:29:55.097+02:00According to various sources Sweden was part of th...According to various sources Sweden was part of the League of Augsburg from its formation in 1686, together with the Holy Roman Empire, Spain and Bavaria, and some lesser states in the Empire. England and the Dutch Republic joined in 1689, resulting in the Grand Alliance. Sweden left already in 1691, after having concluded some sort of peace with Denmark. Denmark is never mentioned as part of the League of Augsburg or Grand Alliance.Wienand Drenthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05706264747223852048noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3897297125231754296.post-40941496918182531462012-08-17T18:04:37.111+02:002012-08-17T18:04:37.111+02:00I think that Denmark was a member of the Grand All...I think that Denmark was a member of the Grand Alliance, unlike Sweden, who anyway rented out troops to the Dutch. This non-membership was what enabled Charles XI mediate Ryswick.Bjorn Thegebynoreply@blogger.com
